The market town of Markt Hartmannsdorf is located in the Rittschein Valley in southeastern Styria. Just outside the village stands the pilgrimage chapel "Ulrichsbrunn". The water of the spring is said to cure eye ailments - at least that is how it is said. Most of the spring's water is used today as a water supply for the surrounding houses, but a small part still flows out of the chapel's vault. There is also a well at the village square. This was dedicated to Peter Simonischek and literature. Instead of water, however, literature springs from it. Peter Simonischek, who grew up in Markt Hartmannsdorf, regularly fills the literature fountain with new works.
You can relax and let nature have its effect on you at the Rittschein site, where you will find a fruit nature trail and an energy rest area. On the fruit nature trail you can discover apple and pear varieties typical of Styria, and at the energy rest area with its large biotope you can recharge your batteries. Afterwards, a visit to the outdoor adventure pool in Markt Hartmannsdorf is tempting - here, action and fun for the whole family are on the agenda.
And here it comes: there's also a ski slope in Markt Hartmannsdorf! Hardly imaginable and anything but usual that there is a "ski area" in the thermal and volcanic region of Styria, people have been indulging in winter sports here since 1971. It offers a 400-meter-long slope, affordable ticket prices, a cozy ski lodge and ski lessons - so to speak, perfect for the whole family.
