From Murau to the Eselsberg Alm

This is a long, strenuous mountain bike tour through the Murau region.
Due to its length, this mountain bike route requires a certain level of fitness and endurance. However, the effort is made up for by picturesque scenery, places worth seeing and nice stops.

More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Turn right here in the direction of Murau. In Murau the WM-Halle is located after the second traffic circle on the left side.

Coming from Tamsweg drive via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) to Murau. After the double traffic circle the WM-Halle is on the right side.

From the starting point of the WM-Halle Murau, drive west to the first double traffic circle. There, take the first exit to the right in the direction of Ranten. Follow the Rantenradweg R63 to the power plant. Here turn left, past the execution site (gallows) over the Kulmhammer. Pass the rest area at the former Humburger sawmill with the Waschlrad. At the crossroads follow the course of the provincial road via Rottenmann in the direction of Schöder. From Schöder, via Baierdorf to St. Peter am Kammersberg (from here signs 5a, 5) follow the Katschtalradweg R55. In St. Peter am Kammersberg follow the road in the direction of Vordere Pöllau. Here you follow the road in the direction of Hintere Pöllau. In Pöllau am Greim you turn the road left into the ditch, past the homestead Ersl following the path to the 3 huts: Funkelhütte, Knollihütte and Hölzlerhütte.

Back follows the path to the Prieler hut, there you continue over the bridge to the left and follow the path over the Ersl hut and Miedl hut. Via the farmsteads Knolli, Funkl and Miedl you follow the road into the valley until you reach Knapp Säge; continue towards Winklern near Oberwölz. At Wieden before Oberwölz you turn right, follow the road - past the St. Pankratius church via Hinterburg, until you reach the main road again at Oberdorf. From here you follow the Katschtalradweg R55 to Frojach-Katsch. Back to Murau you cycle along the Murradweg R2.

Public parking is available directly at the WM-Halle in Murau.
