Habring from Oberzeiring via Bauernhof vlg. Friday

Comfortable ascent, panoramic spots during the ascent and descent and a rustic summit cross in the middle of the forest at 1497 m in the Murtal region.
Starting from Oberzeiring in the Murtal region, there are a number of hikes that lead to the forests and meadows to the north and south of the village. Two leisurely hiking trails lead to the Habring, also known as Habering. On the one hand, you can go via the farm vlg. Greimegger farm or, as described in this tour, via the farm vlg. Freitag farm. A combination of ascent and descent of both tours is recommended, so you can get to know both routes. The Habring summit is located at 1497 m in the south-west of the village. A few decades ago, the summit still offered great views, but now there is nothing left of the view as the summit is in the middle of the forest. Nevertheless, the summit is still attractive as there is a summit cross with edelweiss and a rustic rest area.

More information

From Judenburg via the B 114 in the direction of Hohentauern (19 km, approx. 20 minutes).

From Trieben an der Pyhrn highway A 9 via the B114 towards Judenburg (33 km, approx. 35 minutes)

We start at the tourist office in Oberzeiring (1), 932 m, walk past the church to the Blahbach stream, which flows through the village. We walk a short distance downstream to the road, where we turn right and walk slightly uphill into the valley for the next 1.2 km. The road leaves the valley floor with a sharp bend to the right and leads continuously uphill, so that we follow the wide gravel road for the next 2 km and can enjoy the beautiful views and rest stops in between. At an altitude of 1235 m, we reach the farm vlg. Freitag (2). We walk directly between the house and the stables and can already see the gravel road, which continues uphill across the meadows and pastures. At an altitude of approx. 1300 m we come to a crossroads (3), 1330 m, with yellow signposts and a sign for trail 960 in the direction of Habringsattel. This is followed by a steeper section up to the Habringsattel (4), 1415 m. We turn right after the fence (trail no. 3a) and continue uphill in a single line until we reach the densely wooded ridge and then the summit, Habring (5), 1497 m. In the summit area there is a summit cross, a rest bench and a location board with altitude information. The descent follows the ascent route or via the hiking trail to the farm vlg. Greimegger farm to Oberzeiring.
Beautiful opportunity to walk from Oberzeiring over the Habring to St. Georgen ob Judenburg or Unzmarkt.
Oberzeiring is connected to the public transportation network and can be reached by bus. (From Judenburg or Hohentauern approx. 30 minutes)
