Prebersee - Preber
This is a challenging hike that requires a certain level of fitness and endurance.
The Preber is the third highest mountain in the Lungau and due to its striking shape and open position it is visible almost in the whole Lungau basin. The area around the Prebersee (1,514 m) is already in the upper mountain forest stage. Spruce and larch thrive here as the predominant trees. The latter, together with the Swiss stone pine, climbs above the timberline into the combat zone, where individual specimens marked by the harsh climate reach the tree line. Clearing and grazing have created alpine meadows in the mountain forest stage, which delight us with their rich flowering.
