The path around the Steirischen Bodensee is an easy and very beautiful walk in an alpine landscape. At the foot of the towering mountains we enjoy the romantic mood. Also very impressing is the waterfall near to the Bodensee.

More information

From the Ennstalbundesstraße (B320) take the exit towards Ruperting (near Haus im Ennstal) or Gössenberg. Then follow the respective toll road into the Seewigtal valley.
Via Ruperting near Haus im Ennstal or Aich/Gössenberg, we reach the car park in the Seewigtal valley via a toll road. We walk for about 15 minutes on a wide path along the stream to the Steirischer Bodensee. In around 45 minutes, we hike around the lake on circular trail no. 17. At the end of the lake, we can opt for a tour to the waterfall and Hans-Wödl-Hütte at Hüttensee via the ascent with the number 782. We then walk back to the starting point on the other side of the lake past the Forellenhof.
 
Enjoy the incredible view of the Schladminger Tauern mountains with the Hochwildstelle (2,747 m) as the absolute highlight. A comfortable rowing boat tour on the Styrian Bodensee is also recommended.

Safety on the mountainside: changes in the weather, sudden fall in temperature, thunder storms, wind, fog and snow fields are all objective dangers and require the correct behaviour whilst underway. the landlords of the huts are all very knowledgeable about the mountains and can give you good tips about the weather and the routes. Insufficient equipment, exaggerated opinion of ones capabilities, frivolousness, poor health condition and a false evaluation of the situation can lead to a critical situation. In thunder storms: summits, crest-sites and safety rope aids are to be avoided.
