More information
Take the Knittelfeld OST exit and continue in the direction of Rachau or St. Margarethen bei Knittelfeld and then turn right onto Gleinstraße in St. Margarethen. We recommend that you always stay in the direction of Rachau bei Knittelfeld, as the access road to the Rachau treetop hiking trail is located near the Rachau town entrance/exit.
When entering "Mitterbach 25", most navigation systems will guide you to the Wipfelwanderweg via a somewhat longer and more complicated route. We therefore recommend entering the address "Rachau 97" (= Rachau municipal office), as this will take you directly to Rachau and you will then be able to follow the signs to Gleinstraße and the turn-off from there to the Wipfelwanderweg Rachau.
This tour leads from cycle junction 67 along the main road to the village of Rachau. Before the Stadl Cafe, turn left into Tiefenbachgraben. First we cycle on asphalt and then turn right onto a comfortable gravel path to the newly managed Almausschank Wielender. Afterwards, we return a short distance and turn right again into the Tiefenbachgraben.
When the hut is closed, there is still the possibility to refresh yourself with drinks.
Take the
ÖBB to Knittelfeld and then in the direction of Gobernitz St.Margarethen. At the Gobernitz roundabout, take the second exit and then keep left in the direction of the Wipfelwanderweg trail (please note: permanently closed).
