More information

Plan your journey via Google Maps to the starting point of the tour: www.google.at/maps

From the north: Motorway Munich - Salzburg - Eben - Schladming - Liezen onto the A9 towards Graz. Exit at Lieboch and follow the B76 towards Deutschlandsberg. Leave the B76 in Stainz and follow the signs for the centre or Stainz Castle.

A9 is subject to toll - Gleinalmtunnel. Alternative: At St. Michael take the S6 towards Bruck and in Bruck take the S35 towards Graz.

From the west: In Villach take the A2 towards Klagenfurt. Take the Steinberg exit and head towards Stainz / Schloss Stainz.

From the east: A2: Vienna - Aspang - Hartberg - Fürstenfeld - Graz. From Graz continue on the A2 in the direction of Klagenfurt and take the Lieboch exit in the direction of Stainz/Deutschlandsberg/Eibiswald. Follow the B76 to Stainz / Schloss Stainz.

From the south: A1 from Marburg to Leibnitz. Exit in Leibnitz (Gralla) and continue on the B74 in the direction of Deutschlandsberg (Heimschuh - Gleinstätten - St.Martin - Deutschlandsberg). Pass the LKH Deutschlandsberg, at each of the four roundabouts take the second exit in the direction of Stainz-Graz. Follow the B 76 in the direction of Stainz. Directly in Stainz, take the third exit at the JET roundabout and drive towards the centre or Stainz Castle.

Starting at Stainz Castle, you can use the castle square to warm up. The park benches on site invite you to do various gymnastic exercises. Warmed up, you can now start this beautiful evening run. First run north-west along the Hochfeldweg. This leads you slightly downhill to the settlement opposite. You now run along the Stainzbach in the direction of its flow. At the first junction, turn left, past the tennis court, up to the bus park. After crossing the car park, walk right along Badgasse. As the name suggests, you will pass the Stainzer Freibad. A beautiful bath with three pools and a mini golf course. Perfect in summer for cooling off after a strenuous run. Now you cross the large car park of the open-air swimming pool and the school and walk over a beautiful wooden bridge. You pass the kindergarten and the path leads you directly to Kärntnerstraße. Walk south (out of town) until you reach the JET roundabout. Cross the roundabout and follow Gewerbeparkstraße to Bahnhofpark. The probably very busy square remains in your memory and is a good place for a post-run excursion. Continue running towards Graschuh and on to Stallhof. You cross the road at Draxler and run the long straight towards Samahof (Hiebler). Here you can get a good snack and refreshing drinks if you need a break. Follow the old village path and then Ettendorfer Straße towards Stainz Hauptplatz. Once you reach the main square, it is not far to the starting point. Now you only have to walk past the Hotel-Restaurant Stainzerhof and shortly afterwards you can finish the loop with a run up the stairs via the Jakob-Rosolenz-Stiege to Stainz Castle. If you don't want to walk up the stairs, you can also walk over the Klosterhöhe. You've done it. Now you have earned some refreshment in the numerous pubs on Stainz's main square.
Flascherlzug: After about 4.3 km you walk through the station park. Make a note of the Stainzer Flascherlzug as an excursion destination.
