Greibrunnweg No. 12 Variant a
A short hike up towards Spitzerberg and through meadows and vineyards back to St. Nikolai im Sausal.
The local municipality was established as an autonomous body in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the municipality became part of the Reichsgau Steiermark, and from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the English occupation zone in Austria. Anyone who has ever been to St. Nikolai i. S. is struck by the unique landscape. From the Flamberg, a lovely valley with gentle, picturesque hills opens up to the astonished visitor. The Celts began cultivating land and wine here thousands of years ago. Many burial mounds from this and later times bear witness to this unique history. It was the magic of this spot of earth that persuaded many nomadic peoples to settle here over the course of time. The Celts brought wine, the Romans refined it into a cult.
