The hike leads up to Mattelsberg with magnificent views and back to Großklein.

The hike begins at the Hallstattteitlichen Museum in Großklein and takes us towards the town centre. From here, we keep left towards Kleinklein and then turn right onto the idyllic municipal path that leads us to Mattelsberg. Passing the cosy HaHü wine tavern, the path winds its way down Mattelsberg into the Nestelbachgraben. After a short stretch in the valley, the path leads us left after the bridge and finally up to the Nestelberg at the edge of the forest. The path leads along quiet municipal roads to the Nestelbachstraßengraben. From there, it continues to the right towards Ripernegg until you finally reach Mattelsberg.
The return route then takes you back to the village at a leisurely pace.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the Leibnitz exit. Follow the B74 to Heimschuh - Großklein.

Variant 7a: This route runs along the southern slope of the Mattelsberg mostly on municipal paths and offers the possibility to shorten the main route.

Visit the Hallstatt Period Museum in Großklein.

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible.
