Schwoag-Wirtbartl - through the Rockys

Open
Varied, challenging, enjoyable and unique perspectives of southwest Styria - these are some of the characteristics of the Schwoag-Wirtbartl mountain bike tour.
It is varied because it first leads south of St. Oswald ob Eibiswald over the Hadernigg, opening up wonderful views back down to Eibiswald and into south-western Styria, but then leads over the Mauthnereck onto the Schwoag and over to the Wirtbartl, where the scenic characteristics change completely. This section, mostly in high forest, is reminiscent of the endless expanses - not of outer space - but of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The tour is challenging because it climbs almost continuously from Eibiswald over the Hadernigg, the Mauthnereck and the Schwoagberg - in short: the Schwoag - to the Wirtbartl. In addition to the cycling itself, the stop at the Wirtbartl, where you can taste excellent coffee and traditional South Styrian delicacies, is a real treat. And unique perspectives of south-western Styria can be found everywhere along the tour, but especially from the Jägerwirt with the view to the south-east towards St. Oswald ob Eibiswald and the Remschnigg and Kapunerkogel border range behind it.

The "Schwoag-Wirtbartl Tour - through the Southwest Styrian Rockies" is the mountain bike tour of your choice if you are

  • are looking for a varied, physically demanding tour that takes you from the wine region to the alpine pastures and back again,
  • you fancy an alpine snack, which you have to earn beforehand, want to try out your e-bike for once,
  • want to feel the loneliness of the Canadian Rockies in southwestern Styria,
  • want to learn to love the unique view of southern Styria from the Jägerwirt,
  • are looking for a super cool single-trail downhill, which in this case will take you from the Jägerwirt back to the Wiel,
  • want to visit one of the most picturesque places in south-west Styria, St. Oswald ob Eibiswald,
  • are looking for a dreamlike, view-intensive flow descent via the Buchenberg down to Eibiswald.
