In the gently rolling hills of western Styria lies the picturesque village of Piber, the birthplace of the famous Lipizzaner stallions of the Spanish Riding School since 1920. In Piber, it is easy to understand why the Lipizzaners were favorites of the Habsburgs: They are extremely intelligent, lively and people-oriented. As a UNESCO national intangible cultural heritage site, the Lipizzaner stud farm in Piber also safeguards the centuries-old knowledge of breeding and rearing Lipizzaners. Every year, around 40 foals are born and spend their childhood and adolescent days at the Lipizzaner stud, on its outlying farms and on the surrounding Alpine pastures for their summer retreat. The stables, paddocks, idyllic castle, museum with interactive stations on the breeding and rearing of Lipizzaners in Piber, the coach house with its historic carriages, the café-restaurant and the event arena make this a wonderful excursion destination for visitors. Experience the world-famous Lipizzaners up close on guided tours of the stud farm, carriage rides, guided tours of the alpine pastures or at one of the events in the large arena with demonstrations by the riding and driving department of the Lipizzaner stud farm in Piber or book a VIP tour for your own individual experience at the stud farm.

Test your climbing skills right next to the world-famous Lipizzaner horses of the Spanish Riding School: located at the foot of the castle hill, the climbing park offers an experience for the whole family. 60 stations spread over seven courses offer a fun sporting challenge for every level of difficulty! Find out if you are as sure-footed and agile as our young horses! The highlight of the climbing park is the 300m long Flying Fox - and with a bit of luck, you might even spot the Lipizzaner horses in the surrounding pastures!
