The Murhof in Styria is one of the absolute classics among golf courses in Austria. Since its foundation in 1963, it has hosted numerous major tournaments, including the European Championships, the Challenge Tour and the Ladies Tour. In 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023, the Murhof also hosted the stars of the Legends Tour. Golf legends such as Ian Woosnam, Barry Lane, Thomas Levet, Paul Lawrie, Peter Fowler, Joakim Haeggmann, Phillip Price and Costantino Rocca were delighted with the course and ambience.
The Murhof has a special significance for Austrian golf pro Markus Brier. His successful career began with his victory at the Austrian Open 2002, which took place at the Murhof. It was the first victory by an Austrian on the Challenge Tour and remains a milestone in Austrian golf history.
The Murhof's 18-hole course is characterised by its varied design and scenic beauty. A particular highlight is the 14th hole, a par-5, which tees off next to St Mary's Chapel and runs around a large pond. This challenge remains a special memory for many players.
