This family-friendly hike on the
Tauplitzalm invites you to enjoy the lightness of life. The trail leads along well-maintained paths to a picturesque rest area with a magnificent view. In early summer in particular, the
meadows are transformed into a sea of blooming alpine flowers. Millions of
purple alpine flowers,
velvety blue gentian, carnations, anemones and
wild thyme.
You can start at the
Tauplitzalm parking lot or at the top station of the
4-seater Sessellbahn cable car. After the barrier, the meadow path branches off a few meters to the right and leads in an easterly direction. At the Tauplitzsee lake, the route meets an asphalt road, which is followed to the Sterngassl. Turn left here to the
Steirerseebankerl, one of the most beautiful resting places in the region. The view of the legendary
Sturzhahn,
Heinrich Harrer's favorite climbing mountain, is impressive. The view of the turquoise-blue
Steirersee lake with its two small islands is also breathtaking.
The
Steirerseehütten huts, which are located slightly below the
Steirerseebankerl, are ideal for a leisurely stop. A narrow path or the more comfortable gravel road lead there.
The way back can either be via the meadow path or the asphalt road. If you want to hike with a
baby carriage, stay on the road, which provides barrier-free access to the
Tauplitzalm.
