Skiing in Ausseerland

Skiing in Ausseerland is dreamlike. Passionate winter sports enthusiasts appreciate the perfectly prepared slopes. Pleasure skiers enjoy the magnificent views on Loser and Tauplitz.

And also among freeriders the Ausseerland is no longer a secret. Away from the slopes, they have found a new home for the winter months in the deep snow.

Skiing pleasure until springtime

Guaranteed snow is the hallmark of the ski areas at Loser and Tauplitz. The geographical location and modern snowmaking systems allow the slopes to be used until spring.

Altaussee

Skiing on the Loser mountain experience

The chairlifts take skiers comfortably up to the Loser. Once at the top, spacious pistes allow for long turns and optimal carving. Waiting times at the lifts are short and there is plenty of time to stop for a break or two.

A special feature is the seven-kilometer-long family downhill run. It is the longest in Styria. In the Ski kids area little visitors collect their first meters on the slopes.

Bad Mitterndorf

Ski paradise Tauplitz

Thanks to its geographical location, the Tauplitz ski paradise is one of the most snow-sure ski areas in the entire Alps region. The ski region scores 43 kilometers of slopes, which are skied the whole day in the bright sunlight.

On Tauplitz, every skier will find his or her ideal run: from the leisurely route on the Tauplitzalm to the sporty ride down into the valley.

„Great: At 1,880 meters above sea level, skiers enjoy their rest at the Kriemandl ski hut, the highest ski hut in Styria.“

Grundlsee

Varied offer in the ski resort Zlaim

If you want to go night skiing, then you have to check out Zlaim lift at Grundlsee! In addition to the skiing fun during the day, young and old also ski down the slope under the starry sky. Every Friday night skiing is possible in an unique atmosphere.

Eldorado for freeriders

The two ski areas on the Loser and on the Tauplitz offer freeriders boundless freedom off the slopes. On varied deep snow slopes and long downhill runs, nothing stands in the way of varied freeriding. Always with you: magnificent views of the snow-covered mountain landscape.

Experienced freeriders know; only with safe snow and weather conditions deep snow is really fun. To do this, simply pay attention to the current weather and avalanche warning level. Do not forget: It is important to know your own limits and to assess your own skills correctly! That way no one gets into danger.

Guides are available in both ski areas for adventurous off-piste skiing experiences.

Ski touring in Ausseerland

Those who want to experience nature and the happiness of summits away from the often bustling activities on the slopes choose touring skis.

Ski tourers on the Loser are rewarded with a fantastic view. The view sweeps over the deep blue Altaussee Lake, the picturesque Salzkammergut and the imposing Dachstein massif.

A beautiful route also leads to the Tauplitzalm. Arriving at their destination, ski tourers are rewarded with an enchanting winter mountain world.

Spontaneity and the Ausseerland go together just as well as alpine huts and Kaiserschmarren. If you want to experience the winter freshness of the regions while ski touring, rent the equipment from a regional ski rental shop.

Better safe than sorry: ski tourers also know that a look at the weather situation and a check of the avalanche warning level should not be missing.
