This impressive
hike in Ausseerland connects the high plateau of the
Tauplitzalm with the village of
Tauplitz - including a lake hike, fantastic views and the alpine descent via the so-called “Riesen” on trail no. 216. A varied tour for sure-footed hikers with a feel for nature and far-reaching views.
The starting point is the mountain station of the
4-seater chairlift on the
Tauplitzalm. Right next to it is the small
mountain church, a place of tranquillity - well worth a short visit.
The hike leads across the extensive high plateau in the direction of Steirersee. A break at the
Steirerseebankerl is well worthwhile, as the view of the Sturzhahn and the shining lake is a real nature experience.
At the Steirerseehütten huts, there is a choice: either continue along the north or south side of the lake - both options are scenic, but
require surefootedness.
The
Schwarzensee appears behind a small hill. On the eastern shore, path no. 216 branches off to the south. The descent towards the valley is via the so-called “Riesen”, a steep but well-marked path.
Almost at the end of the path is the
Sagtümpel, an impressive karst spring that fascinates with its power and depth.
Turn right at Gnanitzstraße and take a leisurely hike back to the center of Tauplitz.
This tour is part of the popular Tauplitzalm hiking area and offers an intensive hiking experience in
Ausseerland with its mountain lakes, viewpoints and alpine descent. The tour is suitable for
sure-footed hikers in good physical condition.
