What guests can look forward to
St. Gallen is a place you’ll remember right away, because it’s the town overlooked by Gallenstein Castle Ruins, the former refuge of the Admont Benedictines. The town is also surrounded by old hammer mill owners’ mansions, which were built during the Renaissance and belonged to the owners of the hammer mills.
St. Gallen, along with its district of Weißenbach, is situated within the Styrian Eisenwurzen Nature & Geopark—a textbook example of a nature park destination—and has plenty to offer. Orchard meadows, dedicated farmers and producers, beautiful spots all around, great hiking trails, and living history closely tied to the iron industry, log rafting, and salt production. And somehow, all things considered, you get the feeling that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be—whether you’re sitting in a cozy outdoor dining area in St. Gallen or enjoying award-winning cider at the widely renowned Veitlbauer in Weißenbach.
