The stone border

haller mauern mountain group

The Haller Mauern mountain group stretches like a stone wall between Styria and Upper Austria - a line of limestone, wind and a thirst for adventure. And although the name sounds like a boundary, they open the door to countless possibilities: Whether in summer or winter, leisurely or challenging, in hiking boots, with a rope or on skis - everyone can get up to speed here.

The Mount Großer Pyhrgas is the king of the round. At 2,244 metres, it towers above everything - proud, with great views and, on a clear day, with a panorama that will leave you speechless. But its neighbours also have it all: Mount Bosruck, Mount Scheiblingstein, Mount Lahnerkogel and what they are all called - a collection of peaks that will make hikers' hearts beat faster.

What makes the Haller Mauern mountain group special is that they are accessible and wild at the same time. Alpine, but not remote. You can hike into the sunrise here, march through rustling leaves in autumn or ski down fresh firn slopes in spring. A real year-round mountain range - to fall in love with, linger in and come back to.

The Haller Mauern mountain group is like a playlist of hits. Not a single drop-out, not a single summit that doesn't have that certain something. When you are out and about here, you realise that this is not an accessory to the Gesäuse - this is a real highlight in its own right.
