Gesäuse

Enns

The wilder of the two river beauties Salza and Enns is probably the Enns. Depending on how she is feeling, she can be wild and racy, or very calm. In the Gesäuse, it is surrounded by the towering rock faces of the Hochtor Group and the Buchstein, and the so-called "Gesäuse Entrance" is a sight that explains what is meant by Stage VI white water (limit of navigability).

loud & sound

The whole valley listens to her name, because life in the Enns Valley is clearly interwoven with the switching and turning of the Enns.  And much more! Gesäuse" also comes from the roar and roar of the Enns. An important river, an important habitat and an important point on your Gesäuse excursion.

Enns

map

It is a rendezvous of water and rock: the alpine river and the mountain landscape all around it shine and glitter in the moods of the seasons. The last unregulated stretches of Austria's fifth longest river are found in the Gesäuse and represent an important and sensitive habitat. Looking at the natural forces at work here, one clearly gets a sense of respect.

Gesäuse

eat & sleep

They are rustic and outspoken, the Gesäuse inns.  And "regional" is not a code word in the Gesäuse, but a duty. In their backpacks they have a selection of Styrian classics to delight the palate. The traditional preparation awakens a thousand and one memories and, on balance, simply makes you blissful.

And restful sleep is possible in the Gesäuse anyway. Hotels, guesthouses, huts and campsites are scattered all over the Gesäuse. Everyone is sure to find a comfortable bed for the night. That's a promise!
