Pleasure hike from Grundlsee to Lake Toplitzsee
On the Geo-Trail from Grundlsee to Toplitzsee, parents and children learn in a clear and understandable way how the Salzkammergut came into being. It originated several million years ago, when limestones and dolomites were deposited in a tropical sea. This was the beginning of a geological process that formed today's landscape in the Ausseerland Salzkammergut region.
On the Geo-Trail 34 marked stations inform about this geological development. During the hike to Lake Toplitz, children and parents read about the mountain formation of the Tote Gebirge, about the ice ages and about unusual terrain phenomena, such as the glacier mill or learn about torrents that have already disappeared.

More information
From Rösslern, a collection of farmsteads in the traditional local architectural style, the trail continues exclusively on a gravelled promenade path to the district of Gaiswinkel.
At the asphalt road there, continue left and then immediately right to the "Kreuz". At the Amon carpenter's workshop, take the forest road to the left and continue on this road, above the Ladner inn, until you reach the gravel pit. Here you will find the large fish farm of the Austrian Federal Forests. Continue to the left and follow the green signs past the Schachner mill to Gößl. At the traffic circle at the Hofmann Inn, hike into the village of Gößl, past the Veit Inn and later again on a gravel road to Lake Toplitz.
At the fishing hut is the landing place for the crossing to Kammersee. From the eastern landing to Kammersee, it is only about a ten-minute walk. Now you are at the place of the Traun's origin.
Once you are back at the Fischerhütte, you have earned an enjoyable rest.
To return to Gößl, take the alternative route via the "Reith", past the memorial stone that commemorates the first meeting of Archduke Johann with the Aussee postmaster's daughter Anna Plochl. Continue on the forest road, which later becomes a forest road again. Soon the village of Gößl is reached again.
The other variant would lead along the so-called "Toplitz-Parcours" along the Toplitzbach stream to Gößl. Arrived in Gößl, there is the possibility to return to the starting point by boat to Grundlsee.
Otherwise, continue hiking through the village of Wienern. The road later becomes a forest road and a bit further a path that leads along the steep slope of the "Ressen". Then the landscape opens up again and you walk through the "Au" past farms and follow the green signs down to the lake. Now there are only a few minutes to walk to the Seeklause, which closes the circle.
