Open Air Museum Vorau
Vorau
The remarkable collection of old rural buildings with original inventory documents the East Styrian working world of the past centuries and shows the life of the common people.
The Vorau Open-Air Museum is located right next to the Abbey Cemetery: here, the agricultural working world of past centuries comes alive. Among other things, the following can be admired in detail: the smoking room house "Marotti" from 1706 featuring a complete interior of a typical East Styrian farmhouse, an "open barn," "Hoanl" and "Hoar" parlors, a house mill and smithy, the old village doctor's pharmacy, a hand-setting workshop, a school classroom, a herb pit, a drying oven, a press house, a farmer's saw, a weather cannon, and much more.
