HWW-Hiking route: Schäffern - Bärnegg - Laglmühle (circular trail)
This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
This HWW hiking route runs from Schäffern along the old Karnegg path to Bärnegg to Laglmühle and back to Schäffern. On this route you pass the HWW station Karnegg/Türkenkreuz, where you can learn about the effects of the Ottoman siege of Vienna in 1683 on the Wechselland region.

Arrival by car
- Take the Schäffern exit from the A2.
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
- The route starts in Schäffern.
- The route follows the old Karnegg path to Bärnegg.
- Continue to the Laglmühle HWW station.
- The return route leads back to Schäffern.
We recommend a visit to the newly designed village square in Schäffern, or you can visit the Bärenstarke hiking and exercise arena in the village.
There is a parking lot next to the
church in Schäffern.
