Eastern Styria’s downhill and cross-country skiing regions have specialised in families. A whole winter of fun on the slopes and trails

Downhill skiing in Austria's garden

It is often said that happiness comes from within. A skiing holiday in Eastern Styria confirms: It comes from outside. Even in winter. With our extra-long summer and two mild shoulder seasons, ours is short but therefore twice as nice. Our skiing regions in and around the Almenland Nature Park are ideal for children and older first-time skiers. The slopes allow beginners to start out slowly. Take a skiing course if you need help.

No equipment? No problem. You can rent everything you need for the winter sport on site. If you prefer to bring your own hardware to the slopes, you can have it checked.

Cross-country skiing in Austria's garden

More and more people are falling in love with cross-country skiing as an alternative to downhill skiing. One can only speculate as to why. Perhaps because of the smooth gliding that lets you get into a flow. Or the cross-country routes that let you see more of what’s around you. Or the steady speed that soothes and calms you. Whatever it may be, give it a try. Beginners and experts get their money’s worth on the Almenland cross-country ski runs or the Joglland cross-country ski run. More groomed cross-country ski runs await in Rabl-Kreuz/Waldbach and in Fischbach.
