Nestled in the hilly landscape, the village is a perfect starting point for numerous hikes in summer and a true winter sports resort in the cold season.
St. Jakob im Walde is also a member municipality of the Styrian Flower Road and delights every year anew with the magnificent flower decorations, for example in the Europapark. Here the flags of the EU are displayed in flowering beds. Just across the street is the adventure exhibition Kräftereich, which deals with the themes of powers, myths and realities. The exhibition also includes a uniquely designed herb garden and the Klimt Garden.
In winter, the village is best known for the Joglland cross-country ski trail, which has been awarded the Styrian Cross-Country Skiing Seal of Quality, or the family ski mountain. The cross-country ski trail offers cross-country skiing fun at the highest level with a snowmaking system, snowfarming and a floodlight system, as well as ski rental and cross-country skiing courses. At the family ski mountain, a Rumpel-die-Pumpel run, a drive-through WC, as well as slopes of all levels of difficulty await the little ones.
