The family-friendly trail leads us for approx. 5 kilometers through the historic cultural and natural landscape of the Pöllau Valley Nature Park.
Eastern Styria: panoramic circular hiking trail

The start and finish is the Pöllau Castle Park (west of the Parkcafe), in the immediate vicinity of the center of Pöllau, where there are also numerous culinary delights to enjoy. The nature park landscape is probably one of the most diverse and beautiful spots in Styria.

Pöllau, castle park

The Pöllau Valley Nature Park is located in the heart of Eastern Styria, the garden of Austria, approx. 60 km north-east of Graz and approx. 150 km south of Vienna

By car from ViennaIf you are driving from Vienna to Pöllau bei Hartberg, take the A2 towards Graz and drive about 110 kilometres until you reach the Hartberg exit. From there, follow the B54 in the direction of Pöllau.

By car from GrazTo get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Graz, take the A2 motorway in the direction of Vienna. After about 30 kilometres, take the Gleisdorf West exit and then take the B54 towards Hartberg/Pöllau. Follow the B54 for about 25 kilometres until you reach Pöllau.

By car from SalzburgTo get to Pöllau bei Hartberg from Salzburg, take the A1 motorway towards Vienna. Drive about 110 kilometres to exit 109 (Salzburg junction). There change to the A9 motorway in the direction of Graz. At St. Michael, follow the S6 towards Kapfenberg. Continue on the S6 until the Krieglach exit. From there, take the B72 and then the L405 to Pöllau.

  • We start at the "Shady tree" information board in the castle park (west of the park café). We leave the Schlosspark via the northern entrance and follow the signpost "Klimazukunft-Weg". We follow the road for a while until we turn right towards Hinterbrühl.
  • At the "Humus in the soil" information point, we learn interesting facts about our soils. The path now leads us to the Hotel Restaurant Gruber. A loop around the popular bathing pond and we come to the forest path along the Saifenbach stream.
  • The next information point "Wilderness and deadwood" is located at a forest area that has been taken out of use. We now return to the center of Pöllau along the barrier-free path - through the beautiful Aupark and the main square we reach our starting point in the castle park.
