Getting there by car

Do you prefer the freedom and flexibility of travelling by car? Then the region of Graz is a great destination for you! After all, Graz provides a direct connection to A2 motorway, making it particularly easy to reach.

  • Vienna: approximately 2 hours 
  • Munich: approximately 4.5 hours 
  • Udine: approximately 3 hours   


By the way: The surrounding region also provides excellent connectivity. While the north and some parts of the south have direct connections to the A9 motorway, some places in the south, west and east are located right by or near the A2 motorway.

In Austria, all vehicles using motorways and expressways are subject to toll payment. This toll can be paid in the form of a one-year toll sticker, a two-month toll sticker or a 10-day toll sticker.

In addition to the toll sticker, additional charges apply to certain road sections, which can be paid on site or by way of digital section toll.

Vacation without your own car?

Nothing could be easier! Getting to Graz is easy and convenient by train or Flixbus.

The city's public transport network is well developed with streetcars and buses. You can even get up the Schlossberg with the Schlossbergbahn or the elevator through the tunnel. A city tour with the electric bus, which is especially for guests, is highly recommended.

The surrounding communities can be reached by train, S-Bahn or bus. The Flux shared cab is available for special requests or to close the gap.

Getting there by train or bus

Travelling to the region of Graz is comfortable and environmentally friendly. Graz main station is one of Austria’s major traffic hubs. It is located near the city centre and is serviced by tram lines 1, 4, 6 and 7.

Direct train and bus connections are available from Vienna, Salzburg, Linz, Klagenfurt, Munich, Stuttgart or Frankfurt. For many other day and night trains, consult the websites of ÖBB and Deutsche Bahn.
