You can feel the southern vibe on this indulgent cycling tour south of Graz. Dive right in – into Lake Schwarzl and into nature and art at the Austrian Sculpture Park.
The "Southern Flair" accompanies you on this relaxed loop around Premstätten. The ideal starting and finishing point is the Tourist Information Office and Town Hall in Premstätten – here, you can charge your e-bike and pick up a snack from one of the many local farm shops. Although, to be honest, you might not need it – traditional inns along the route offer plenty of inviting places to stop and enjoy a hearty meal.
The route follows the Erzherzog Johann Cycle Path R9 to Dobl, then branches off at Muttendorf onto the northern section of the Kainachtal Cycle Path R14. After passing through Lannach, the trail leads into the beautiful Lieboch Valley along route R56. From Attendorf, the path winds over forested hills with a few short, steep climbs up to Florianiberg – close to Graz yet surrounded by idyllic farmland, vineyards, and panoramic views.
After an exhilarating downhill ride, we reach the pilgrimage church in Strassgang and continue past the public pool “Naturbad Straßgang.” The route turns west via Weblinger Straße and connects to the main cycle route 11 (HR11), which we follow to the regional transport hub in Puntigam. From there, we head south on HR9 toward Graz Airport. Shortly after passing the airport, the route reconnects with the Erzherzog Johann Cycle Path R9. After circling the airport, the route takes us to the Austrian Sculpture Park and Lake Schwarzl – just two kilometers from our starting point in Premstätten.
