If that is not a reason to celebrate - a New Year is dawning!
No matter how the previous year ended, the NEW YEAR should be good and fulfil many hopes and wishes! A toast to that: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The old year is drawing to a close and the new one is already waiting to be welcomed accordingly. Traditionally, the turn of the year is celebrated in Graz. New Year's Eve parties and balls are held in many hotels and restaurants. You can really enjoy the last hours of the year with festive gala menus - after all, Graz is Austria's capital of deligtht.
An unforgettable New Year's Eve should end with a unique firework display! It wouldn't be Graz if there weren't a very special "firework display" here. A unique spectacle is presented in the middle of the old town, against the magnificent backdrop of the town hall. Water, fire, lasers and light are combined to create an impressive show. Fascinating video projections on a water screen are a delight and make the turn of the year a highlight.
The end of the year also includes the New Year's Eve run, the New Year's Eve Bim, Cirque Noel, the guided New Year's Eve tour through the old town, the culinary New Year's Eve tours and, of course, the big New Year's Eve spectacle on the main square.
One day before the actual end of the year, on December 30th, the Farmers' New Year is celebrated throughout the Graz Region. At the Lipizzaner stud farm in Piber, the first foals are already waiting to be born - you can see them live on a guided tour of the stud farm! The more sporty among us say goodbye to the year with a winter or New Year's Eve hike, skiing, tobogganing or a ski tour.
And for those who love contemplation and romance, we recommend the torchlight procession in Hirschegg.
