Special guided tour: Christmas at Rein Abbey, family tour
During the family tour at the Stift Rein in Gratwein-Strassengel, children and adults discover the Christmas story in the basilica and together create a Christmas nativity scene.
Admission: € 11.50 adults | € 4.00 from 14 years
Angels, the Holy Family, and the Christmas story are at the center of a special family tour at the Stift Rein. On Saturday, the 12th of December, the basilica will become the scene of a joint exploration of the biblical Christmas story.
During a tour of the Stiftsbasilika in Gratwein-Straßengel, children and adults will follow the traces of the angels. Together, they will discover depictions of the Holy Family and learn about the connection between the high altar and the Christmas festival. The familiar story surrounding the birth of Jesus will be explored through the art and religious representations in the basilica.
The tour combines the engagement with the Christmas story with a creative conclusion. After the tour, families will collaboratively create a nativity scene. Each participant is invited to bring their own figurine for the nativity, which can of course be taken home after the event.
The family tour offers the opportunity to get to know Stift Rein from a Christmas perspective during the Advent season. The basilica, with its religious artworks, provides the framework for engaging with the figures and symbols of the Christmas story.
Tickets, € 11.50 adults | € 4.00 from 14 years (children, students) | € 9.50 seniors are available at the monastery shop, and registration is not required. The Steiermark Card is not valid for this special tour.
The Stift Rein is accessible by public transportation.
