Magnificent mountain tour to the high game site, the second highest mountain of the Schladminger Tauern as well as the highest mountain which is entirely on Styrian territory. The classic ascent route takes you through the valley of falling waters past the Steirischen Bodensee, Hüttensee and Obersee. Via the Neualmscharte and Kleine Wildstelle to the summit. This long mountain tour can be made much more relaxing and eventful by spending the night in a hut at the Hans-Wödl-Hütte. The ascent of about 1.15 hours over the Steirischen Bodensee and along the mighty waterfall is very attractive. The hut on the lake with a view of the Schleier waterfall and big game is a wonderful place to stay overnight. In the morning it is still shady during the leisurely hike to the Obersee. Then path no. 782 leads steeply up over several rock steps to the Neualmscharte, whereby in the last area there are often still snow fields to overcome, which require great caution. Directly on the saddle, the normal ascent leads left over the rocky ridge of the Kleine Wildstelle with a magnificent view. Both the deep view to the three lakes and the view of the mountain echelons to the west are a joy. Be careful when crossing to the northwest ridge of the Hochwildstelle (Seewigscharte), because the short ascent is exposed. Afterwards, the path leads in many hairpin bends over scree and some rock slabs to the summit. One can only rave about the view from the summit. The way back is like the way there.

TIP: For experienced mountaineers, the descent over the south ridge is recommended as a variant (easy climbing, I+). You descend over well-stepped and non-slip rock, avoiding some rock towers and reaching the crossroads at the Wildlochscharte. On trail no. 702 through the huge cirque of the Himmelreich down to the Preintalerhütte. In the early summer there are nordic impressions: Lake with ice remains, small streams full of meltwater, small waterfalls and alpine roses, that makes the long descent varied. From the Preintalerhütte over the Riesachsee and Riesachfall to the bus station at the crossroads Seeleiten. Duration: Descent via Preintalerhütte and Riesachsee to P Riesachfall (bus station) - approx. 5 hours.

IMPORTANT: fantastic mountain tour, which requires stamina, surefootedness, free of dizziness and also mountain experience!
This tour should be started relatively early, therefore it is not possible to arrive by public transport.
