Buschenschank - Wine Tavern

Without wine there is no Buschenschank (wine tavern) and without a Buschenschank there is no southern Styria. Take a seat on the dreamy panoramic terrace or in the rustic interior rooms. Those who stop at a Buschenschank in southern Styria are welcomed with regional delicacies, outstanding wines and a good portion of hospitality.

Southern Styria is the Buschenschank Mecca of Styria, with more than 200 Buschenschänke in the region from the Koralm to the wine trails. But not just anyone is allowed to call themselves a "Buschenschank". The rules are clear. Only those who also cultivate a vineyard or orchard are allowed to run a Buschenschank. Cold dishes and homemade pastries, wine and fruit juices from ones own production are served. But what would you not find at a Buschenschank? Coffee, lemonade, beer and hot dishes are off the menu. But the snacks, with fresh and crusty farmhouse bread, taste all the better. Accompanied by a scarlet runner bean salad refined with delicious pumpkin seed oil and an apple strudel to finish. Accompanied by a glass of sparkling Welschriesling or rather a fruity Sauvignon from the in-house winery (how could we do it without). The selection is large, the dishes simply a treat for the palate and the ambience unique.

The "Ausgezeichneter Buschenschank" seal stands for quality and quality products. The businesses are recognisable by the wine-red coloured, rectangular seal with a white inscription.

The aim of the Buschenschänken is to offer guests excellent quality and a wide selection of regional wines and products. Particular emphasis is placed on the glass culture, the ambience and the quality and origin of the food. In an excellent Buschenschank you can be sure that the wines and juices as well as the snack specialities come from their own farm or from the surrounding neighbourhood.
