When renovating our farm we paid a lot of attention to details. The house is build in the typical L-shape and houses apartments and cottage-suites that are equipped with heavy wooden furniture and modern standards. Located on a quiet hilltop between Riegersburg and Feldbach, the Sonnenhaus lies hidden, but still well connected. The farm house is surrounded by an extensive orchard. Small sauna for private usage (upon reservation). Fire bowls and grill for an evening out in nature. Apple trees connected by hammocks. Solar-heated outdoor pool to refresh in from April to October.
As hosts we are deeply rooted in the region Vulkanland Steiermark. We attach great importance to buying locally sourced food. In the former press we offer a regional breakfast put together with delicacies from our neighbours.
From the Sonnenhaus several hiking trails lead to culinary manufactories like Vulcano ham or Zotter chocolate. A guided tour through the brewery in our neighbourhood offers a lot of opportunities to talk about pioneers shaping the region. Along Vulkanland Route 66 tasty production sites and cultural highlights take turns wooing you.
Good to know: WIFI is available in the common areas, the reception inside the apartments is often spotty due to the thick walls. During winter we provide bathing robes for you, in summer we forgo it to save energy. There is no air-conditioning installed at the farm. The thick walls isolate and, together with a careful airing routine during the cooler night time, provide a comfortable indoor climate even during hot summer days.

Bird's-nest
A wooden staircase leads you to the front porch. It is faced with larch wood, the floor is laid out with old clay tiles. The veranda opens to a view into untouched nature and over the wine hedge down to the pool. The room is furnished with an antique spruce bed, the glas front of the shower allows views into the greenery even during bathing time. The basic materials wood and clay plaster combined with oiled, antique wood furniture create a homey atmosphere. The addition of wax blobs to the clay plaster provides a natural air conditioning and agreeable temperatures even during high summer.
