Concert Anton Burger - Solo in the hospital church
Wandering around in different violin worlds - classical and modern, traditional and new, foreign and familiar - very soon determined my musical life, thinking and feeling. After more than forty years of musical activity on stages of all kinds, this strolling, lingering and moving on again to discover new things has become my program. J.S. Bach, the Alpine and Gaelic musical tradition and their own pieces form the fixed points of a hike on which side paths, detours and diversions are by no means avoided, but rather sought out and taken with relish. Violins, viola, mandolin and voice are the means of transportation on this journey through time and space.
Born in Herzogenburg, the musician completed his studies at the Vienna Academy of Music with Gerhard Schulz after taking violin lessons and graduating from high school. This was followed by chamber music, orchestral and studio work. After several concert and study tours (Italy, France, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, England and Ireland), he began working as a musician and composer for recordings, radio and stage in 1985. He is a member of numerous musical formations of various genres. From 1993-2012 he was a cattle herdsman on the Henaralm in the Totes Gebirge during the summer months. Anton Burger is the father of two sons and lives in Ausseerland.
