About the offer

Fishing in "Styria's Canada"

Sure, in the Gesäuse, everything is cooked with water, but within it, there are the occasional creatures that make the hearts of salmonid enthusiasts race. Wild-caught fish from A for grayling to R for rainbow trout are just waiting to be discovered by the common fly fisherman. These scaly companions leave nothing to be desired in terms of stock and size. THIS is the chance to catch a really big fish at least once in your life!

All this takes place on a well-regarded fly fishing stretch: On 8 kilometers of length, far from any road and civilization noise, you will find calm zones and deep pools as well as beautiful riffles. The gorge and a short dam at the end of the area round off this dream come true for any fisherman. You will be wide-eyed! But the Gesäuse would not be the Gesäuse if it were content with just that, no! For alongside the almost perfect fishing conditions, the Styrian Eisenwurzen Nature Park and the Gesäuse National Park are basically neighbors, boasting their magnificent landscapes once more. Between deep green forests, towering rock giants, and emerald sparkling waters, no (fish) eye remains dry. Trout here or Huchen there, one thing is certain: Taking the plunge into cold water definitely pays off here!

What do I get from this?

As a beginner, you will learn the basic cast and the roll cast – with these, you can already master many situations by the water. Various presenting techniques are explained, demonstrated, and practiced in different water sections. Basic knowledge about flies, equipment, and knots, as well as fish and insect science, will complete your introduction to fly fishing.

As an advanced angler, repetition and error analysis will be on the agenda. Furthermore, the focus will be on optimizing your casting technique, applying efficient methods, and learning casting variations. Double haul, switch cast, bow cast, parachute cast, reach cast, tuck cast, T-snap, etc. are some of the most important techniques.

Program daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Day 1: Casting technique, equipment knowledge, insect knowledge, fish knowledge, "reading" the water
