Nothklamm
LandlCozy gorge hike for the whole family along the Gamsbach stream
As the cherry on top of the gorge cake, there is also the Kraushöhle to visit. Rock formations and completely natural water features round off the small hike.
There, one walks on over 700-meter-long walkways – almost floating – deeper into the gorge. And this is in – especially in summer – a pleasant climate. One shouldn't rush, as there is so much to discover. Above, the rock formations, below, the bubbling water, and between the feet, fossils of sea snails and shells. It requires a keen eye for detail: seemingly inconspicuous lichens turn into true wonders of nature, and baby caves become small discoveries. The water rushes by at high speed, making the entire gorge vibrate.
Not only in an emergency
Stones in all colors and shapes, and always the wild sound of rushing water in one’s ears. One certainly won’t get bored. There are even climbers who visit the Nothklamm every day of the year and continuously discover new favorite spots. In winter, avalanches occur; in summer, one sees traces of them while walking along the 700-meter-long wooden walkway, with a new formation lurking behind every rock. Wildly romantic say some, thrillingly exciting say others. Because depending on whether one marches with heart or mind, the impression changes.
