Soapbox race of the FF Mariazell
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the volunteer fire department Mariazell warmly invites all enthusiasts to an extraordinary soapbox race, where both young and old can prove their skills. But be careful, it’s not just about speed!
Categories:
- Individual Ranking: Each participant races individually or with a passenger, aiming for the most consistent times.
- Team Ranking: Here teams consisting of three members compete. Each team must register separately to be classified in this category.
Attractive prizes will be awarded to the top individuals as well as teams.
The track, a well-maintained dirt road approximately 350 meters long, offers ideal conditions for the race. All participating soapboxes must have at least three wheels and be equipped with a functioning, safe brake that allows for safe stopping with a short braking distance. Additionally, a loop at the front of the box is required to pull it up at the start.
The technical inspection takes place in the starting area. If the soapbox passes the inspection, the participant receives a start badge that entitles them to participate in the race.
An important safety note: During the race, wearing a helmet is mandatory! Sturdy shoes and gloves are also recommended to ensure the safety of the participants.
Participating is worthwhile! Whether young or old, fast or slow – at the soapbox race in Mariazell, precision is the key to success. The volunteer fire department Mariazell looks forward to numerous participants and spectators who wish to experience this exciting day together.
Be there and show that it's not always about speed – but about the art of staying consistent!
More information on start times and registration will follow in the coming weeks.
