Tag des Denkmals - Georgibergkirche

Kindberg

on Georgiberg

On September 28th, it is the 30th Day of Monuments.

It is no longer a secret that the Georgiberg was already inhabited in the Copper Age, in the 4th millennium BC. This was revealed by archaeological excavations conducted by the Joanneum Regional Museum from 1995 to 1998. The "sancti Georgii in monte," one of the early sacred buildings of the Mürztal on the cliff edge of the Kindberg Georgiberg, was first mentioned in 1232. Today, the church is privately owned and has been professionally maintained by the Kindberg Georgiberg Association since 1994. Guided tours from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Additionally, the latest scan results from the Georgiberg will be presented as part of the program for the Day of Monuments, providing fascinating insights into the historical significance of the site. Archaeological finds and restoration measures recount a long-term engagement with the captivating history of the Georgiberg.
