The pharmacy and drugstore "Zur Gnadenmutter" was founded in 1718 and can refer to a centuries-old tradition in the manufacture of own products based on European medicinal plants.
The pharmacy and drugstore "Zur Gnadenmutter" was founded in 1718 and can point to a centuries-old tradition in the production of its own products based on European medicinal plants. Its oldest product, Mariazell Stomach Drops, has been produced in the in-house laboratory since 1780 and is still produced according to the original instructions.
Today, the company has more than 100 unique health products for body, mind and soul, which are now popular far beyond the borders. Mag. pharm. Bernhard Widlhofer complements modern medicine with treasures from over 300 years of pharmacy experience and millennia of knowledge from traditional European medicine.
It is a special experience to visit this traditional pharmacy once, to see the 150 year old furnishings made of pine wood or old equipment and to take part in one of the interesting guided tours.
Guided tours:
1st guided tour: During a guided tour in our pharmacy you will learn interesting facts about the effect and use of medicinal herbs, preparation of traditional remedies and everything about health from herbal medicine and traditional European medicine. After the tour there is a possibility of tasting our popular herbal liqueurs.
2nd children's tour: During the children's tour, children from the age of 5 can take a look behind the scenes of a pharmacy, learn interesting facts about the work in a pharmacy, can visit the laboratory and also mix a tea and stir an ointment themselves. Appointments by appointment - registration directly in the pharmacy!
Guided tours from 10 persons, costs: € 5,00 per person incl. tasting, € 7,00 per child for the children's tour.
Manicure, pedicure and wellness foot care also possible, appointments can be made at any time in the pharmacy or by phone.
Opening hours pharmacy: Monday - Friday: 08.00 - 12.00 h and 14.00 - 18.00 h Saturday: 08.00 - 12.00 o'clock Sunday and holiday: on-call service
Opening hours drugstore: Monday - Friday: 08.00 - 18.00 hrs. Saturday: 08.00 - 17.00 o'clock Sunday and holiday: 10.00 - 16.00 (in Advent until 18.00, from 7 January to 30 April Sundays closed)
