Karl-Lechner-Haus
Spital am SemmeringCharming Alpine Club hut in the Fischbach Alps at 1,450 m above sea level, idyllically situated in the forest below the Spitaler Alm.
The littel alpine hut at the foot of the Stuhleck summit is named after Karl Lechner, a dedicated Alpine Club official who co-founded the building in 1907. The hut sits enthroned in the middle of light mountain forests above Spital am Semmering. Even the easy ascent from Pfaffensattel, which can be completed in around 1 hour on a forest road, makes you want to take a day trip. The route from Pfaffensattel via Karl-Lechner Haus, Spitaler Alm and Alois-Günther Haus back to Pfaffensattel is also a popular circular tour.
The hut is also particularly popular with families: a rustic mattress dormitory offers up to 25 sleeping places - a highlight for children who want to experience hut life up close. The Karl-Lechner-Haus belongs to the section Stuhlecker of the Austrian Alpine Club and is open at weekends and on public holidays from the beginning of June to the end of October. Details can be found at www.alpenverein.at/karllechnerhaus.
With its blend of alpine charm, family-friendly facilities and historic atmosphere, the Karl-Lechner Haus is a real insider tip for families and nature lovers. Whether as a starting point for summit tours on the Stuhleck and Pretul or as a tranquil retreat for a relaxed evening in a mountain hut - this destination impresses with its authenticity and natural serenity.
