We are organic!
All-day warm and regional dishes made from products from our own hunting and organic farming. Organic cheese is sold daily from May to October directly at the hut or from the farm by phone order at +43 676 633 54 56.
On our organic farm in Altenberg an der Rax and at our alpine lodge, we work in harmony with nature. The core idea of ecological farming is to create as closed and natural a cycle as possible between humans, animals, and nature.
The hut is in operation from early May to late October - depending on the weather!

Our organic farm places great value on a conscious and responsible handling of natural resources. Soil, water, and air are protected and appreciated, soil fertility is promoted, and biodiversity is preserved.
This ecological farming method is reflected in our products through the unique taste, which originates, among other things, from the biodiversity of the alpine meadows with its unique grasses and herbs.
The hut has been awarded as Kulinarium Steiermark Hut.
The Lurgbauerhütte is open daily from May to October. However, in bad weather it is advisable to call the hut keepers in advance to find out the exact opening times.
