Rettenwandhöhle Kapfenberg
KapfenbergA magical realm underground! In the electrically illuminated stalactite cave with an expanded visitor path, you can admire wonderful stalactites, stalagmites and stalactite columns. A special feature is the wealth of pearl sinter, nodule and button sinter. The path into the interior of the mountain leads past a "jellyfish" and a plaster cave bear into the "Great Cathedral" with its "carillon" and the "Gothic choir". Under sinter bridges and the "Auerhahn" you get to the "Broken Pillar" and the "Luster". The part of the cave accessible to visitors ends in the "Versturzhalle" with the "Steinerne See". On the way back you can visit numerous finds in a small cave museum.
The first mention of the Rettenwand Cave comes from 1918. From 1923, research into the cave began.
