About the serviceprovider
With the knowledge of the ski-historical significance of the region, a Winter Sports Museum was founded in Mürzzuschlag in 1947.
Having continuously grown over many years, the collection today stands as one of the most significant in its field worldwide. In connection with a rich archive and a comprehensive library, extensive expertise has been developed and the Winter Sports Museum has evolved into a competence center for skiing and winter sports in Austria and Europe.
Various educational programs turn a museum visit into an experience. Additionally, the Skirock Cafe and the popular ski hut invite visitors to relax. Numerous events organized by the dedicated museum team further enhance its appeal. The museum facilities can also be rented by companies, clubs, and individuals for seminars, lectures, celebrations, photo shoots, etc.
The museum team has many years of experience as a lender of objects, supporting various projects, and also offers ready-conceived traveling exhibitions or tailored special exhibitions.
The NostalSkiTeam offers an up-close experience of historical winter sports. As part of ski demonstrations, interested viewers are introduced to the various styles of alpine skiing from the early days in Central Europe around 1890 to the carving technique of the 1950s using original equipment (from the museum).
The Winter Sports Museum is an ideal excursion destination for group outings and offers an exciting and varied museum visit for everyone.
The museum is located in the small town of Mürzzuschlag (Upper Styria), nestled in nature between Rax and Schneealm and the Fischbacher Alps. The first international ski competition in Central Europe took place in Mürzzuschlag in 1893. For this reason, one can dive into the history of skiing and winter sports in this specialized museum. Ski and sports equipment from renowned athletes from past decades and the present are also represented in the museum. With special group offers, one can immerse themselves in past times or learn more about the stories behind the scenes of the Ski World Cup circus.
The duration of the individual group offers is a guideline derived from experience. The tours through the museum and the special offers can be flexibly adjusted to your individual time resources.
People with special needs are warmly welcomed at the museum, and a group visit is always possible. The museum is wheelchair accessible and there are seating options in the exhibition areas. Dogs (on a leash) are also permitted.
