The town hall is one of the oldest buildings in Murau's old town. It dates back to the time of Liechtenstein rule in the Middle Ages, but was used for other purposes from 1578.

Thanks to a successful adaptation, historical parts, such as the large vault, have been preserved and made visible. Modern functional elements make it suitable for everyday use as an official building. The building has been used as a town hall again since 2001.
