Municipal office Lobmingtal
LobmingtalWelcome to the community of Lobmingtal!
In 2015, the municipalities of Großlobming and Kleinlobming were merged within the framework of the Styrian municipal structure reform. The centre of Großlobming is located about 5.2 km and Kleinlobming about 11.4 km south of Knittelfeld in the Lobmingbach valley.
The municipality is bordered to the north by the Mur and to the northeast by the Gleinalpe. The municipal area comprises the following three villages or cadastral communities: Großlobming, Kleinlobming, Mitterlobming. The Lobming valley was settled by Slavic settlers in the 7th and 8th centuries AD. This can be deduced from the Slavic place names Lobming (from lom) and Lobmingbach (from lomnik).
The first documented mention dates back to 927. There are several listed buildings and places of interest such as two parish churches with vicarages, wayside shrines and chapels, Großlobming Castle with outbuildings.
