This provocative statement, borrowed from Taoism and ZEN, is considered the great secret of a successful, happy life.
“Do nothing-achieve everything” is not meant to mean that you lie down lazily in a corner and no longer
feel compelled to do anything. Rather, doing “something else” is no longer done out of ego,
no longer out of fear. There is no longer any pressure or compulsion behind this action. You are allowed to do something,
but you no longer have to do anything. Can life even work like this, you ask? Actually, this is the first time you really start to live.
This doing happens easily and effortlessly,
because it is no longer a matter of doing with a primary purpose other than to enjoy doing!
This doing happens on its own, following an impulse or intuition, so to speak, out of joy,
and no longer out of the apparent necessity of wanting to go somewhere.
To have to go somewhere, to satisfy some personal need. Rather, this action happens in an impersonal form.
It happens through us. You could say that we are no longer the agent but God,
who uses the space we have created to express himself through us in a loving and perfect way.
We create this necessary space precisely by recognizing and giving up our compulsive thinking-driven behaviour.
