Aichberg Castle
Rohrbach an der LafnitzBetween Vorau and the East Styrian river Lafnitz you will find Aichberg Castle, which was once part of a medieval ring of castles defending the eastern border of the empire.
Aichberg Castle rises black above the village of Eichberg and the rolling hills of Eastern Styria. It looks defiant and somewhat menacing. Lord of the castle Cajetan Gril du Guern says this is not intentional. During the renovation work it became apparent that this must have been the original colour of the façade. In the 17th century, for example, anthracite gray was probably the color of fashion for castles. And because he didn't feel like replacing the many rotten baroque doors, he quickly asked artists to design them. Schloss Aichberg is a member of the Schlösserstrasse/castle road.
