Experience glass art in the Graz Region: exhibition at the Kunsthaus Köflach, Styria.

From 16 May to 5 July 2025, the Kunsthaus Köflach in the Graz Region invites you to the exhibition ‘TRANSPARENCY - Contemporary Glass from Austria’. The vernissage will take place on Friday, 16 May 2025, at 19:00. Mayor Helmut Linhart will welcome the guests, followed by introductory words from curator Elisabeth Passath, MA. The evening will be accompanied by music from Julia Schnapper and Alexander Nartey.

The exhibition presents a diverse cross-section of contemporary Austrian glass art. From sculptures and objects to installations, glass paintings and wall objects - the works show the versatility of glass as a material in art. The different artistic positions enter into a dialogue that reveals similarities and differences. Various techniques such as melting, blowing, moulding and polishing become comprehensible. The title ‘TRANSPARENCY’ refers not only to a classic characteristic of glass, but also to the attempt to present a variety of artistic approaches.

On Saturday, 17 May 2025, at 11:00 a.m., there will be a guided tour of the exhibition with the artists. Afterwards, you are cordially invited to visit Renate and Fritz Prehal's Werkhaus Kainach. In addition to the gallery and workshops, an inspiring garden awaits you there. On display will be home and garden sculptures, artistic glass jewellery, fusing objects and impressive unique pieces cut from optical glass. Admission is free.
