Experience the traditional raising of the maypole followed by a spring festival at the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing on 1 May 2025.
The day begins at 9.00 a.m. with the ceremonial transport of the decorated maypole by tractor to the museum grounds. The maypole is then erected in the traditional way using muscle power and ropes - an impressive spectacle that you are welcome to help with.
Musical entertainment is provided by regional music groups who invite you to a may dance and band dance. The brave can put their skills to the test by climbing the maypole. At the same time, there is a plant market where numerous old rare varieties are presented - a paradise for garden lovers.
In the afternoon, you can test your marksmanship at the bowling tournament on the newly built bowling alley or at the pigeon shoot. The museum restaurant ‘Zum Göller’ will spoil you all day long with regional delicacies on the theme of herbal magic.
The Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing, located in the Graz Region in Styria, offers an unforgettable experience for the whole family with this festival. Immerse yourself in living tradition and enjoy a day full of customs, music and culinary delights.
