A Ride on the Hexenexpress Schöckl
St. Radegund bei GrazA popular destination for families is the Schöckl mountain – this is a place to get moving – mountain-biking, riding the “Hexenexpress” summer toboggan run, going round the barrier-free “Panoramarundweg” boardwalk, playing Disc Golf, trying out the motor-skills park or in the wellness area.
The Schöckl is very popular as a destination for locals and tourists - no wonder, it is easy to climb with the Schöckl cable car and offers recreational fun for all: a dense network of hiking trails, great trails for mountain bikers and downhillers, excellent thermals for paragliders and hang gliders, motor parkour with nature play trail, culinary delights in huts and inns and much more.
For children and teenagers the summer toboggan run Hexenexpress is the absolute hit. On about 1,000 m, seven curves and over two jumps, it goes on comfortable yet sporty sledges rapidly down into the valley. You can determine the speed yourself - at a maximum speed of 40 km/h, it's quite a ride. For the return trip to the high plateau, you simply remain seated comfortably in the sled. A climbing aid pulls the sled back to the starting point.
The only problem with the Hexenexpress is stopping, because this fun is actually addictive. No problem with the inexpensive and family-friendly fares, and for holders of the Genusscard, one ride is even free.
By the way: The summer toboggan run is an all-weather toboggan run - however, the "Hexenexpress" is not in operation during the winter months. Click here for opening hours!
Tip: Hansi, a green squirrel, is the Schöckl mascot. He has hidden along the route several times and ensures that young and young-at-heart passengers are not disturbed by the Schöckl witch during the toboggan ride. Those looking for Hansi will find the solution at the end of the ride in the Hansi Box at the children's playground on the Schöckl Plateau.
Down in the valley, at the foot of the Schöckl in St. Radegund, it's not boring at all: There's an exciting forest high ropes course just opposite the Schöckl cable car valley station, romantic and historic spring paths, the impressive baroque Calvary with 21 chapels, the leisure center with outdoor pool, tennis and beach volleyball courts, the beautiful listed Curhaus, varied restaurants ...
