Schöckl Trail Area
St. Radegund bei GrazLet's ride the Schöckl!
It is not by chance that the Schöckl is THE popular local mountain of Graz and Grazerinnen! Only a few kilometers north of the city, the 1,445m high Schöckl offers plenty of relaxation in the best mountain air, sports opportunities and recreational fun for young and old - in every season!
If you don't necessarily want to conquer it on foot, you can easily take the Schöckl cable car - of course this also applies to all cyclists and bikers! In any case, you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the Hochschwab and the Rax in the north, the Gleinalpe, Stub- and Koralpe in the west, the Triglav on the Slovenian-Italian border and the Slemen near Zagreb.
For all friends of cycling the Schöckl is a true Eldorado. Depending on your preferences, time and condition, you can choose between the 35-kilometer Schöckl panorama bike circuit, challenging bike tours - for example on the World Cup-tested marathon course - or mountain bike trails in the Schöckl Trail Area, which is open all year round and offers a wide variety of natural gravity trails over more than 10 kilometers.
The single trails and downhill courses "Gibim", "Hintnumi" and "Silent Hill" can definitely be described as crisp. The downhill course "Gedscho", on which a European Championship was held 20 years ago, is still one of the most difficult trails in the world. In the finish area, you can specifically hone your skills and riding ability. There are classic bike park obstacles and, with the coaching zone, also an easier practice area. In all sports, but especially in mountain biking and downhill, it makes sense to get advice from professionals and to be coached. With The Gap Coaching and the Bikeschool Pekoll, there are two internationally recognized riding technique specialists available here.
Length of trails: A total of over 11 kilometers of Gravity Trails. Open all year round for bikers!
