Museum Villa Retznei
Ehrenhausen an der WeinstraßeThe exhibition in the Retznei showroom presents fascinating archaeological finds that came to light during the excavations. In addition to the history of the discovery in the 19th century, the museum is also dedicated to fundamental topics of archaeology and monument preservation.
Under the title ‘Traces of the Celts’, important discoveries of Roman buildings, such as two baths and a nymphaeum, as well as traces of Celtic settlements from around 150 BC to 50 AD are on display. The ‘Life and Romanisation in the Imperial Period’ section sheds light on the transition from Celtic to Roman settlement. It examines whether the site was used continuously or whether a gradual process of Romanisation can be observed.
